WrestleDream event set for Saturday

This Saturday’s WrestleDream event marks its fourth installment, featuring an unprecedented match type in AEW’s history. As the probable headliner, Will Ospreay will defend the AEW World Championship in a Clockwork Carnage showdown against seven other contenders.

WrestleDream Card and Match Order

The event will take place at the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. ET, with the Zero Hour pre-show starting at 7 p.m. ET. The event can be watched on HBO Max, Prime Video, DAZN, Fubo, and PPV.com.

The pre-show will feature two matches: Divine Dominion vs. Sisters of Sin and FTR vs. Motor City Machine Gunns in the first match of a best-of-five series.

Championship Matches

The main card will feature several championship matches, including Jon Moxley defending his AEW Continental Championship against Mark Davis, and The Young Bucks defending their AEW World Tag Team Championships against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight.

Mercedes Moné will also defend her AEW World Women’s Championship against Thekla, while Andrade El Idolo will put his National Championship on the line against Tommaso Ciampa.

The AEW World Trios Championships will also be defended in a 2-out-of-3 falls match, with Swerve Strickland and The New Level facing off against “Hangman” Adam Page and Brodido.

Clockwork Carnage Match

The main event will feature Will Ospreay defending his AEW World Championship in a Clockwork Carnage match against seven other competitors: Samoa Joe, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Adam Copeland, Ricochet, Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, and Darby Allin.

This match type is a first for AEW, and it will feature a unique format where any of the first seven competitors can be eliminated before all eight have entered, at which point it will turn into an Iron Man match, with the wrestler earning the most pinfalls and submissions declared the winner.

Ospreay is expected to retain his title, but the novelty of the match type is likely to keep fans invested in the outcome.

The Clockwork Carnage match represents a thrilling opportunity for fans and wrestlers to witness something new and unpredictable, which could potentially lead to a shift in the way AEW approaches match types and stipulations in the future.

Andrade El Idolo vs. Tommaso Ciampa is another match that promises to deliver, with both competitors having a history of producing excellent performances in the ring.
