Asia Cup gets bigger and better with every edition since it was established in 1984 to enhance a sense of unity and brotherhood among Asian countries. The 13-match competition kickstarts with the inaugural match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan. India shares Group A with previous edition finalist Pakistan and debutant Nepal. It’s a dream come true for Nepal, which is all set to play its first Asia Cup and face giants like India and Pakistan. Group B has the 2022 champion Sri Lanka along with Bangladesh and Afghanistan.  

Pallekelle International Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka, welcomes the high-profile pressure match between India and Pakistan on September 2. It’s an incredible experience for fans across the continent and also the globe to watch India and Pakistan lock horns in a cricket match. Emotions are intense, and the stakes are high when these best teams unleash their potential to dominate each other. If India and Pakistan make it to the Super-4 stage, they will encounter again in Colombo on 10 September. It will be a blockbuster final if both teams manage to top the Super 4s.  

India is the most successful team in the Asia Cup with seven titles and would like to reclaim its top position. Rohit Sharma, who captained the side in 2018 when India won the Asia Cup, would like to clinch the trophy once again this year. Virat Kohli has shown remarkable consistency against Pakistan and would like to continue the same. Virat has been India’s leading run-scorer in the ODI and T20 formats of the Asia Cup since 2012.  

Pakistan lost to Sri Lanka in the 2022 Asia Cup and missed its third championship. With players like Babar Azam, Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, and Iftikar Amed in top form, the Men in Green would like to push forward and lift the trophy. Their bowling is of top quality with the pace factory including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah.
